Video: Senator Wicker Offers Thoughts on Russian Sanctions

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -A Mississippi senator says he supports broadened sanctions against Russia in the wake of the ongoing conflict between pro Russian separatists and Ukrainian troops.

Senator Roger Wicker was guest speaker at the Tupelo Kiwanis Club. He talked about several foreign policy issues, such as the agreement between the United States and NATO to deepen sanctions across Russia’s banking, energy and defense sectors.

He said tough action is warranted in the wake of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

“What we see is the world going up in flames, and we are very much in need of a consistent, firm policy, not only on behalf of the United States, but on behalf of NATO and the western alliance.”

Senator Wicker also talked about the need for decisive action against the terrorist group ISIS. He said it is imperative the U.S. act now to stop any further threats from the Islamic terror organization.
