West Point Child Dies In Tree Swing Accident

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — A West Point 11 year old died Thursday afternoon from injuries suffered when he apparently became tangled in a rope swing last week . West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley says 11 Year old Sonny Quinones was playing at his grandfathers Bruce Drive home last Friday when the accident happened.

According to Brinkley, several ropes were being used as swings in the tree and somehow Quinones strangled on one of the ropes. His grandfather found him and started first aid while waiting on emergency responders. The child was flown to University Medical Center in Jackson where he passed away yesterday.

Brinkley adds there are no reasons to suspect any type of foul play in the death.
