3 killed in Artesia shooting, person of interest in custody

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County Sheriff Mike Arledge says a person of interest is in custody in the deadly shooting of three people in Artesia.

Deputies were called to 23 Mobile Drive, just before 4 p.m., on Tuesday afternoon.

In a press release, the sheriff’s department says investigators discovered “the scene of a homicide.”

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant is not releasing the names of the victims, pending the notification of the next of kin.

Investigators say they are in the very early stages of the investigation and will release more information as “it is confirmed.”

No information about the person of interest has been released from the LCSO.
