4th Arrest Made In Clay County Kidnapping Case

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A fourth person has been arrested in connection with a November armed robbery and kidnapping in Clay County.

Dquan Dewayne Upchurch was arrested by US Marshal’s in Flint, Michigan and was extradited to Mississippi on Thursday.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott, says Upchurch and three others went into a home in the Pine Bluff area back on November 29th of last year.

The others being held in the Clay County Jail are Emmett Buchanan, 43,  Clarence Mitchell, 22, and Hakeem Upchurch, 21.

Sheriff Scott says the armed men assaulted the homeowners in the front yard, then forced the wife and four children, all under the age of 10, into a back bedroom.

The wife and children were allegedly locked in a closet while another person was apparently robbed.

All four are facing charges of Burglary of a Dwelling, Armed Robbery and 5 counts of Kidnapping.

Bond for the latest arrest has not yet been set.
