District 14-2 Chancery Court Judge race results, winner reacts
LOWNDES/CLAY COUNTIES, Miss. (WCBI)- Joe Studdard is the new Chancery Judge elect for District 14-2.
He was up against Carrie Jourdan in Tuesday’s runoff election.
At one point, there was a 7 vote difference between the two in Lowndes County. Those results changed once the last precinct rolled in.
Studdard said his hometown box, which is New Hope, is what put his numbers on top.
“We have to meet tomorrow and kind of figure out how we’re going to get things wrapped up with my practice and then we’ll be ready to start I assure you on January 1st,” Studdard explained. “One of the things that I’ve said I was going to do from the get-go was to get our docket moving as quickly as we can and I plan to try cases as quickly as I can and get the docket moving and hopefully, do what I said I would do.”
Studdard said he is pleased with the turnout and says both candidates he ran against ran a very clean race.
