Mayor of Columbus releases letter to residents following Gov. Reeve’s stay at home order

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The mayor of Columbus wants to clear up any confusion.

In a letter to residents this afternoon, Mayor Robert Smith makes it plain that local restaurants can not offer dine-in services.

The Mayor referred to Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves’ order 1466 dated April 1. That order stated that “Restaurants and Bars may remain open but are limited to drive-thru, curbside, and or delivery service.”

The city of Columbus adopted a nearly identical resolution on March 21.

In his letter, Mayor Smith said, “I am asking that everyone act as though they themselves have the virus and want to prevent themselves from giving it to others.”
