Local War Veteran Honored At State Capitol

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Senate honored a Columbus native and veteran at the capitol today.

World War Two veteran, Joseph R Johnson served with General Patton famous third army.

Lowndes County state senator Chuck Younger authored the resolution to salute the war hero for his service.

Although the veteran was the one receiving the honor, the senate couldn’t get enough of Mister Johnson.

In a tweet, Lieutenant Governor, Tate Reeves said he’s never seen the senate so captivated as Johnson told his stories of serving under the general.
