MHP Troop G’s “Trooper Of The Year”

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Exchange Club of Columbus hosts the Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper of the Year event.

Trooper Kindle Wade Jones was nominated by his fellow troopers for the Troop G “Trooper of the Year” award.

Jones graduated with the MHP class 61 in March of 2015 and has been with Troop G for three years.

The trooper also had the most felony arrests, meth seizures, as well as, DUI felony arrests in 2017.

Jones was born and raised in Choctaw County and works in Webster County.

He says he’s honored by the award.

“I guess it lets me know that I was doing my job and I’ve always been a competitive one, so given that award lets me know that, I guess, I’m one of the best in this district,” says Jones.

Trooper Jones also serves part-time with the Starkville Fire Department.

Each MHP district awards a trooper as trooper of the year.

All of the winners are then put into a pool for a committee to pick trooper of the year for the state.
