Monroe County Looking To Bring In Contractor To Remove Debris
MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- With debris and timber scattered throughout Monroe County, supervisors are asking residents to bring everything as close as they can to the road.
The county is in the process of drafting a proposal to help cleanup the area.
Supervisors want to bring in a contracting group to remove all of the debris from the April storms.
“The question for the board of supervisors is if we have that federal declaration when we are ready to bid this thing, or if we don’t have it, will we be willing to go ahead and start it on our own without a declaration,” said Billy Kirkpatrick, board president. “We feel very confident that the dollar amount of damages that was done in Monroe County, it’s sufficient to warrant a federal declaration.”
Supervisors are still working on the details of the proposals before officially sending them out.
