Junior Auxiliary of Columbus members speak to middle school students
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Stand up, speak out! That’s the motto the Junior Auxiliary of Columbus is teaching middle school students.
Friday, J.A. members visited with 6th graders at New Hope Middle School.
They talked to students about bullying and how to combat it.
It’s an issue in schools across the U.S. and Auxiliary member Sally Edwards said the world today makes it even easier for bullies to emerge, so they want kids to know what to do.
“With so much social media this day and age, the kids need to know about what to do if they notice it. If they know someone that’s being bullied and what to do about that and we’re here to give them the tools to help them with that,” said Edwards.
Edwards said find someone you trust if you see bullying happen. It could be a parent, teacher, preacher, someone you know and can trust.
