One killed, two airlifted in Clay County crash

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A head-on wreck in Clay County killed one person and injured two on Sunday afternoon.

Just after 1 p.m., Fred Kuykendall, 75, of West Point was driving west on MS 50 when he crashed head-on with a car driven by Latasha Davis Hayes, 40, of Yazoo City.

A passenger in Kuykendall’s car, Gail Kuykendall, 70, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

Both Mr. Kuykendall and Hayes had injuries and were airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
