New sheriff elected in highly anticipated Webster County race

WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- There will be a new sheriff in Webster County.

For the past year, residents there have been eager to learn who will be the next Sheriff following the controversial term of former Sheriff Tim Mitchell.

Democratic Candidate David Gore is the unofficial winner.

Gore took home over 2,500 votes, no county affidavit ballots.

He said he’s shocked at the current state of the county, and he’s stepping up to the plate to fix it.

“This is my home. I’ve never seen it like this before in law enforcement, and I love Webster County, and we can do so much better than this. I’ve seen good law enforcement and I know what it is. We can have that here. There’s no reason we can’t. There’s no reason we can’t serve the people and have the trust of the people,” said Gore.

Gore faced off against Republican candidate Jeffrey Mann and independent Candidate Brad Robinson.
