Update: Union County Crash Claims Second Victim
IUKA – A woman involved in a head-on collision in Iuka on Feb. 13 died Friday.
Maria M. Ramsey, 42, of Iuka, died around 2:30 a.m. in the hospital Friday.
Three others were injured in the crash on Highway 172.
Highway Patrol Trooper Ray Hall said an investigation shows Ramsey was traveling westbound on Highway 172 when she apparently collided with a 2007 Ford Explorer driving by Amber Thornton, 19, of Cherokee, Ala.
Thornton and two passengers were also hospitalized. Their conditions were unknown Friday.
Hall said all of Thornton’s passengers were properly restrained. It is unclear if Ramsey was restrained because the vehicle burned in the crash.

IUKA, Miss. (WCBI)-One woman is dead and another woman is in critical condition in Union County.
Trooper Ray Hall reports that around five Wednesday (2-13-13) morning near mile marker 68 on Highway 78, 38 year-old Annie Jones was traveling West when she over corrected and rolled her vehicle several times.
Jones was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
And Tuesday (2-12-13) afternoon around three o’clock 42 year-old Maria Ramsey of Iuka was traveling west bound on Highway 172 near Iuka when she collided with 19 year-old Amber Thorton of Cherokee, Alabama.
Thorton had three other passengers in her vehicle including one adult, a 2 year-old, and a 7 month year old infant.
Ramsey was transported to Magnolia Regional Center in Corinth in critical condition.
The other adult and Thorton were also taken to Magnolia Regional with moderate injuries.
The 2 year-old was transported to LeBonheur in Memphis with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
And the 7 month year old sustained no injuries.
All occupants in Thorton’s vehicle were wereing seat belts.
It is unclear if Ramsey was wearing a seat belt.
