Deputy U.S. Marshal shot in Oxford
OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) – A deputy U.S. Marshal was shot and wounded Friday afternoon in Oxford while trying to execute an arrest warrant.
The deputy was taken to an Oxford hospital.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said the deputy was a part of a team looking FOR Hunter Carlstrom, an Arkansas fugitive wanted for capital murder.
MBI said preliminary information showed Carlstrom shot at the team when they approached his car. Officers then reportedly fired back at Carlstrom.
Emergency medical attention was given to Carlstrom until EMS arrived. He was later pronounced dead.
MBI is leading the investigation.
