Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office warns of phone scam

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is warning of a phone scam involving the agency’s name.

LCSO said it has received several reports of a scammer claiming to be from the department saying individuals have warrants out for their arrest. The scammer also specifically named deputies who work for LCSO to convince individuals to fall for the scam.

The scammer claimed people will need to get credit cards to pay the fines.

The sheriff’s department said anyone contacted by someone claiming to be a deputy or representative from LCSO should called 662-328-7688.

The department also warned people to not send any money or give credit card information out.
