Firefighters respond to smoking ceiling heater at Heritage Academy

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A small ceiling heater caused heavy smoke at Heritage Academy Friday.

A city spokesman said a heater in the elementary school restroom started smoking Friday morning.

It appeared the smoke caused very little damage.

Classes resumed at the school about an hour after the incident.

Fire officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the smoke.
