New director takes reins at Amory Regional Museum

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – The new director for the Amory Regional Museum is able to take his love of history to his new job.

Wayne Knox is the new director of the Amory Regional Museum.

Knox worked previously as a volunteer for the museum and also served on the board.

The Amory native was hired as the director in November and said he sees his position as preserving the city’s past, and also creating dynamic educational tools for all age groups.

“We are stewards of the past, people bring us these relics of their personal history, the town’s history so it’s our job to take care of those, to curate those , make sure they’re stored properly but another job is to work on temporary exhibits, make sure we have a flow of new things in our temporary gallery and spaces,” said Knox.

Knox took over after longtime director, Bo Miller, stepped down to pursue other career goals.
