Houston hosts law enforcement dinner

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI)- Mississippi’s Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves took time Saturday to honor those who serve

Reeves attended a law enforcement appreciation dinner in Houston.

He served as the featured speaker at the dinner.

Houston’s First Pentecostal Church put the event together.

The church invited first responders from Houston and Chickasaw County.

Former volunteer firefighter Scott Murphree said the annual dinner is a great way to celebrate deserving people at a time when they are needed most.

“We just feel like a lot of times these guys don’t get the recognition that they deserve. They spend a lot of long hours. I know a lot of times you don’t get the gratitude you feel like you need so we just came up with the idea to do this to show appreciation to the servants of our county,” said Murphree.

The dinner has become a tradition in the Houston community.
