Lowndes County and Columbus leaders prepare for winter weather

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Preparing for Mother Nature’s whip lash. That’s how Columbus and Lowndes County leaders spent Monday afternoon.

Snow and cold temperatures are expected over night and into the early morning hours across North Mississippi.

MDOT has already pre-treated Highway 45 and Highway 82 on the right lanes.

County road will not be salted until they hear of road problems.

A plan is also in place to set up warming stations if need be.

Those locations will be announced if and when they open them.
