Columbus & Lowndes County preparing for winter weather

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Preparing for Mother Nature’s whip lash, that’s how Columbus and Lowndes County leaders spent Monday afternoon.

Snow and cold temperatures are expected over night and into the early morning hours across North Mississippi, Tuesday.

MDOT has already pre-treated Highway 45 and Highway 82 on the right lanes.

County roads will not be salted until they hear of any road problems.

A warming shelter will open at 10 p.m. at Propst Park Activity Center.

It will remain open until 10 Friday morning.
