Peanut truck crash halts traffic

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A semi crash brings traffic to a crawl on a major highway Thursday evening.

It happened in the West Bound lanes of Highway 82 just before the Macon/Meridian exit.

A semi carrying peanuts overturned in the median.

Traffic was backed up for miles as crews worked to clear the scene.

It’s unclear if anyone was injured in the crash.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

As of 9:30 p.m. traffic was still at a stand still.
