Severe Weather Threat For Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI)- Make sure to be weather aware for today as strong to severe storms are in play as we head into this afternoon and evening. 

TODAY: A level (3/5) Enhanced Risk is in place for most of the viewing area especially with westward extend along with a level (2/5) Slight Risk covering the rest of the area. Make sure to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts if a warning takes place for your location.

SEVERE WEATHER IMPACTS AND TIMING: The main impacts look to be damaging winds upwards of 70 mph, the potential to see golf ball sized hail, a few tornadoes with some on the stronger side, and a limited flooding threat especially as we head into the overnight hours. The main timeline to be weather aware for strong storms starts at 2pm this afternoon through 3am early Wednesday morning.

REST OF THE WEEK: Scattered showers will be possible on Wednesday as a cold front moves through the area. Much cooler temperatures are expected to end the workweek as high temperatures will reach only into the upper 60s to low 70s heading into the weekend. Rain chances also return late Friday and early Saturday morning.
