Two men arrested after allegedly shooting and killing one teen and injuring three others in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (WCBI) – Two 20-year-olds have been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing a teenager and injuring three others.

Ja’Tavious Johnson and Jacob Triplett, both of Carthage, were arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder and three counts of Attempted Murder.

According to the Philadelphia Police, officers responded to a shooting on W. Walnut Street around 12:15 am on Sunday.

Shots were fired during a large birthday gathering attended by people from several surrounding areas.

When officers arrived on the scene, 19-year-old Jamari Hickman was suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Hickman was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

One female victim suffered a non-life-threatening wound after being shot in the leg.

Another female victim was grazed in the arm, and a male victim was grazed in the leg. They both were later released from the hospital.

Johnson and Triplett were arrested in Leake County with assistance from the Leake County Sheriff’s Office and the Carthage Police Department.

This is an ongoing investigation. More arrests are expected.
