Woman arrested on statutory rape charge following an investigation by Holly Springs Police
HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. (WCBI) – A 21-year-old woman has been arrested on a statutory rape charge following an investigation by the Holly Springs Police Department.
According to CBS affiliate WJTV, Ciara Hughes was arrested Friday and charged with statutory rape under Mississippi law.
Police said Hughes was transported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, where she was booked and held pending bond.
The investigation began on July 9 after family members of a 15-year-old boy filed a report with the Holly Springs Police Department, according to an incident report.
Investigators say family members provided evidence from a cellphone as part of the investigation. Police also said the victim’s mother requested that criminal charges be pursued.
Following the investigation, officers obtained charges and arrested Hughes on that Friday.
