Three men sentenced after narcotics convictions in Lee Co.
LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Three men are heading to prison after narcotics convictions in Lee County.
A jury found 44-year-old David Lee Dunn guilty of selling methamphetamine last week. Due to prior felony convictions, the judge sentenced him as a habitual offender to eight years in prison without parole.
The two others entered guilty pleas to meth-related charges. On August 5, 45-year-old Roy Merrit pleaded guilty to one count of sale of methamphetamine and one count of possession of meth with intent to sell, transfer, or distribute. Merritt received a 60-year sentence with 28 years suspended. He was also ordered to complete 5 years of post-release supervision.
And 44-year-old Calvin Gates pleaded guilty on August 3 to selling meth. He was sentenced to 20 years, with 10 years suspended. The judge ordered him to serve the sentence consecutively to his current prison term.
The cases were investigated by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and prosecuted by the First Circuit Court District Attorney’s Office.
