Sturgis holds Sturgis South Motorcycle Rally this weekend
STURGIS, Miss., (WCBI) — Thursday night kickstarted the Little Sturgis Motorcycle Rally weekend. The annual event can bring hundreds and even thousands to the small Oktibbeha County town.
It’s time to rev your engines because the Little Sturgis Motorcycle rally is this weekend. Motorcyclists from all over will convene in Sturgis taking the population from just under 300 to a few thousand as this weekend rolls on.
Volunteer Sara Edwards says one of the favorite events is Friday night’s dinner ride.
“It’s going to go to Village Cycle Center in Starkville. That’s where they’re going to stop and eat, then it’s going to Louisville at the coliseum they’re going to have ice cream for everybody,” she said.
Edwards says the ride then returns to Sturgis just in time for the concerts. The rally is divided into two areas, along Highway 12 and inside Diane Jackson Memorial Park.
For park entrance, wristbands must be purchased. They are $40 and include the concerts. But, if you want to just walk around, it’s free.
“You can walk the street and the whole highway is going to be lined with bikes. It’s already got several out here and there are vendors out here as well,” she said.
Edwards says she anticipates the number of motorcyclists and spectators to increase on Saturday.
