Mother wanted, man arrested for Monroe Co. shooting & car chase
MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – More arrests come from the Monroe County shooting that involved a teen allegedly running a vehicle off the road.
Earlier this week, 18-year-old Chadwick Brady Humble of Nettleton was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault along with other charges in connection to the incident.
Monroe County Sheriff Kevin Crooks said two more people are facing charges for car chase near Liberty Road.
37-year-old Joe Harriel Sartin has been arrested and charged with two felonies his involvement. Sartin is charged with Accessory After the Fact and Possession of a weapon by a felon, officials say.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said they have outstanding warrants for Humble’s Mother, 56-year-old Amy Lynn Young of Nettleton for her role in the incident.
Her charges include three counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Witness Intimidation.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies got called to Liberty Road about someone in a vehicle shooting at another vehicle while driving on Sunday, August 16.
Victims told deputies that Humble of Nettleton chased them from Mike’s Quick Stop on Airline Road.
After firing shots, Humble allegedly rammed into the rear of their vehicle, causing them to leave the road and go into a ditch. Victims said he continued shooting at them after running the car off the road.
Deputies later located a vehicle matching the description of Humble’s on Liberty Road and were able to get him stopped, officials say.
And during the vehicle search, deputies say they found a Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazine.
They also found evidence that the gun had been fired inside the vehicle. Additionally, deputies found cash and a small amount of marijuana.
Humble was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault involving the use of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, driving under the influence of liquor or another substance and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
Authorities say they’re also looking into an earlier incident at a different convenience store in Nettleton where this altercation may have begun. Humble allegedly entered that store, pulled a gun on an individual and threatened him.
Reports said a store employee stopped Humble at the door and prevented him from leaving until the other man had left.
MCSO says Humble led deputies on a short pursuit before being taken to the Monroe County Jail. A female passenger was also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and public drunkenness, officials say.
The investigation is ongoing.
