Warm and Pleasant

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — After a week of high heat and scattered thunderstorms, more calm and pleasant conditions are on the way for today and this weekend.

FRIDAY: Conditions will be mostly cloudy to start out the morning, but will be clearing to sunny skies by the early afternoon. The high temperature will be 93°, but with dew points expected to stay in the high 60s, it won’t be feeling very humid out, with that heat index not likely to exceed 97°. There is a very limited possibility for an isolated shower to pass through our area, but it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing any rain today. It will be a bit breezy out as well, with light sustained winds starting out from the north-northwest this morning before shifting to northerly later in the morning, strengthening to 5 to 10 miles per hour.

FRIDAY NIGHT: It should be a quiet night, with mostly clear skies. The low temperature will be around 68°, wind northerly winds around 5 mph.

SATURDAY: Lots of sunshine throughout our area for tomorrow! The high will be around 95°, but continuing lower dew points will keep that heat index below 100°, even with all that sunshine. Winds will be out of the east-northeast at 5 mph.
