Mother arrested for accessory in shooting; son still on the run
COLUMBUS, Miss., (WCBI) — The Columbus Police Department has arrested one in connection with a Thursday shooting. And needs the public’s help finding another person with alleged involvement.
According to a release, Columbus Police responded to a shots fired called in the 1500 block of 24th Street North. The area is known as Memphis Town.
Upon arrival, they found Michael McCleod, 28, had sustained a gunshot wound. McCleod was transported to Baptist Memorial by Ambulance.
Through their investigation, they identified Antonio Thompson, Jr., 22, as the key suspect. Thompson’s mother, Peytonilla Frierson, has been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.
Police needs the public’s help in locating Thompson. Anyone with any information on the shooting or Thompson’s whereabouts should contact the Columbus Police Department or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers.
