Teen charged as adult in sexual assault case
A 15-year-old faces several charges for allegedly breaking into a Lee County home and assaulting a resident.
LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lee County teen is behind bars for burglary and sexual assault charges.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Sunday morning, deputies got called to a home in the Auburn community about reports of burglary and assault.
When deputies arrived, the victim identified the suspect as Donald McGaughy, 15, who lived nearby.
Authorities later located and detained him.
McGaughy was first transported to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center, where he was placed on a hold order by the Lee County Youth Court.
On September 1, officials said McGaughy was certified as adult in the case.
McGaughy is charged with burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a dwelling, and rape – assault with intent to ravish.
A circuit court judge ordered for McGaughy to be detained in the Lee County Adult Detention Center.
A judge set his bond at $50,000.
