Sunshine and a Breeze

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — Summer-like conditions continue to stick around in northeast Mississippi, but some stronger winds will help provide a welcome breeze throughout the day.

TUESDAY: The high temperature will be around 95°, but abundant sunshine will bring that heat index value up to around 102° in east Mississippi and western Alabama. Towards the west, a heat advisory is in effect for Lafayette, Yalobusha, Grenada, Montgomery, and Carroll counties, for heat index values around 105°. Sustained winds for today are out of the south-southeast at about 10 mph, with potential stronger gusts at some points. Skies will be mostly sunny, but there is a small chance for some very isolated showers or thunderstorms in the late afternoon/early evening hours.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Skies will stay mostly clear overnight, and the winds will calm down as well, getting to about 5 mph out of the east-southeast. The overnight low temperature will be 73°.

WEDNESDAY: Clear and sunny skies all day long. with just a few passing clouds. The high temperature will be around 96°, feeling more like 100°. Dew point values will be decreasing slightly, helping it to not feel quite so warm outside. Winds will be out of the east-southeast at 5 mph.
