ICC Choir and Chamber Choir working hard ahead of White House Christmas performance

FULTON, MISS. (WCBI) – The ICC Choir and Chamber Choir will perform December 14 at The White House,  and they will need a long songlist.

“We are slotted around the 5 thirty to 8 thirty time period,  three hours of singing,” said Choir Director Kyle Davis.
He submitted videos of several performances when he learned about the opportunity for the White House Christmas musical celebration.  The ICC Choir and Chamber Choir were chosen out of more than one thousand entries across the nation to perform during official White House Christmas tours.
Davis says the choir members will get to see history come alive,  during the Christmas holidays,  at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
‘We may be able to sing at the same room as The George Washington portrait,  see the hand painted state seals,  and history for them,  a lot of students have never left their home town,  a lot have never sung before, and now getting to go to the nation’s capitol,  they will never forget it,  it will be a lasting memory for me too,” Davis said.
The choir has been working hard.  They will perform with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra on December the 12th, then head to D.C.  Students say they are looking forward to performing at The People’s House, during the Christmas holidays, and the celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday.
‘I was ecstatic, it is an incredible opportunity, we were shocked, we were waiting,  but we were chosen, and everyone just lost it,” said Choir Member Lauren Stewart.
“I am very excited, I never got to experience anything like this so this will be like a once in a lifetime opportunity for me,” said Choir Member Isaac Jones.
ICC is raising money to cover the cost of the trip, alumni, friends and the community can make donations to help cover the cost.
