Spooky Weather This Weekend

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — While it should stay pretty nice outside today, spooky weather is on the way for Halloween and will stick around through Sunday.

FRIDAY: Temperatures are well above normal today, with a high of 83°. (The normal high for this time of year is 73°.) Although we’re not expecting any rain, cloud cover will build throughout the day. It will become partly sunny around midday, with more clouds sticking around as we approach evening. Winds are out of the east at 5 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Skies will remain mostly cloudy through the night. The low temperature won’t get quite as cold as it has been over the past several days, only dipping into the high 50s. That easterly wind at 5 mph will calm down through the night as well.

This Weekend

SATURDAY: The day will start out cloudy, but more spooky weather conditions will move in before too long. Showers will start up over portions of our area, likely in an isolated manner, in the late morning or early afternoon. Those showers will increase in coverage as the day goes on, becoming more scattered than isolated toward the evening. So, while we are not expecting widespread rain by any means, it might be a good idea to grab an umbrella or poncho before heading out for trick-or-treating in case you get caught in one of those scattered showers. Tomorrow’s high will reach about 79°. Winds will be out of the east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

SUNDAY: Remember to set your clocks back one hour, as Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m.! Showers remain likely, with a very slight possibility of a thunderstorm or two, through your Sunday morning. A chance of showers and thunderstorms lingers in the afternoon. However, anything we see by that point should be quite isolated. The high will get near 70°. Winds will be from the east-southeast at about 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. New rainfall amounts should be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, though higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
