MAYHEW, Miss. (WCBI) — East Mississippi Community College is breaking ground on a new student union.

Leaders held a ceremony this morning at EMCC’s Mayhew campus.

The $17 million facility will serve as the school’s main hub for students by expanding food services and classrooms.

“It’s going to provide 12 additional classrooms for the campus, so this is a building that’s going to help meet multiple needs at one time,” EMCC Golden Triangle Campus Vice President Paul Miller said.

The facility is expected to open in 2016.
