Former Boxer Speaks

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Former heavyweight boxer Ernie Shavers spoke at a local church earlier today in Starkville .
Shavers is known for his hard hitting power,  and is considered by most boxing experts to be the hardest one-punch knockout artist of all time.
He fought boxer such as Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes .  On Sunday, Shavers preached during the morning service and talked during a question and answer session, about the importance of always being a positive person and trying doing the right thing.

“It was good to have him come here to be able to just share some positiviness with Starkville, and let them know that you can be anything you what to be. If you want to be an athlete, then you have to commit to it with your body, mind, and do the right thing,” Pastor Nathaniel Best of Saint Matthews M.B. Church said.
Shavers has been a christian minister since 1983 and he is still devoted to inspiring and passing his message to the youth.
