Video: Renaming The Aberdeen Lock And Dam

ABERDEEN, Miss.(WCBI)–The Aberdeen Lock And Dam just off Meridian Road near the city of Aberdeen is renamed The Donald G. Waldon Lock & Dam during an official ceremony there[Thursday].

The former official of the Tenn Tom Waterway Development Authority began working for the four-state agency in 1975 and retired in 2005.

Twenty-one of those years Waldon of Fayette Alabama was an administrator; under his leadership investments has significantly improved the economic well-being and the quality of life in the region and the nation.

“Most of the locks in which is certainly appropriate, was named what I call some of the fathers of this waterway. And it always seems to be someone at the right place at the right time,” said Donald G. Waldon/Former Tenn-Tom Waterway Development Authority Administrator.

Prior to joining the interstate waterway compact, Waldon spent 10 years in Washington, DC as deputy assistant secretary of the department of interior with the Ford Administration.
