STARKVILLE, MS (WCBI) – The Department of Justice has tentatively okayed a plan to provide more racial balance in the Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated school district.
A federal court filing today shows both sides have agreed to accept a district plan that realigns some of the schools  most notably East Elementary.  Federal officials earlier said the racial makeup at East was not equal so the school system is realigning the schools and will  move the students at East into other district schools.   The district is currently holding meetings to detail the proposed plan and its impact.  No date has been set for a federal judge to rule on the motion.
