COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The 4-County Foundation awarded several local organizations thanks to money that is paid for by 4-County members’ utility bills.

The list of organizations and their awards include:

Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Reserves ($4,800 for tasers)

Oktibbeha County Emergency Services ($4,575 for electrical service upgrades)

Oak Hill Academy-Clay County Educational Foundation ($5,000 for iPads for middle school students)

Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department ($8,748 for body cameras/equipment for 10 deputies)

Golden Triangle World Changers ($9,900 to assist elderly, handicapped and economically-impacted residents’ homes in the 4-County service area)

“We look over all our applications and give back to the community…”, said Foundation president Kathy Howell.

4-County members’ utility bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar, i.e. a $125.79 bill would become $126, and that extra money that is collected from the rounding up is then awarded to local organizations.
