COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Some local car dealerships are working to repair damage to their vehicles following last week’s stormy weather.
All three of Carl Hogan’s North Columbus dealerships got hail damage from Friday’s storm.
More than 1,000 cars were impacted, and discounts are being offered, as a result.
Now the dealerships are working on repairs, which could take three to four weeks.
“We’ve got our paintless dent repair team in here now, taking care of these dents,” said Clyde Rhea, executive manager. “They are actually able to go in without having to paint the cars, and using special rods, they are able to push the dents back out. When this is done, you’ll never be able to tell there ever was any dings on the car.”
The Chevy dealership had to file an insurance claim.
Here are some tips from State Farm on how to handle any hail damage to your car or home:
For Car Damage
– Take pictures to document the damage
– Cover any exposed windows to prevent electronics from getting wet
– Contact your agent to begin the claim process
First Steps For Property Damage
– Make sure that your family and the structure of your home are safe.
– Make reasonable temporary repairs to prevent further damage, when it is safe to do so. Save receipts if you purchase items such as tarps and plywood or other supplies to make repairs. If you have a covered loss, these repairs may be reimbursed.
– Take pictures of your property and any damage that can be seen.
Next Steps For Property Damage
– Work with your insurance agent or claims adjustor to fully understand the claims process.
– Choose licensed and bonded contractors and request references.
– You may contact your local Better Business Bureau for assistance in locating a professional contractor in a specific geographic area.
– If anyone visits your home without an appointment and professes to represent your insurer, or to be there at the request of your insurer, ask for identification and contact your insurer to confirm before allowing access.
