Video: Consultant Meets with Oktibbeha Co. Leaders Over Hospital

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Should they keep it, or sell it? Oktibbeha County supervisors meet with a consultant about their hospital’s future.

On Monday, supervisors approved moving forward in the assessment process concerning OCH Regional Medical Center.

County leaders are looking to possibly sell the hospital, and they’re using a consultant to guide them through the process.

Board President Orlando Trainer says leaders want to get information to make the best decision for the County.

“I think it’s a very historical event for Oktibbeha County, because we see the potential of what we could possibly have, and also, we see from some perspectives the harm that it can bring about as a result of us not really dealing with this issue,” Trainer said.

“The next steps are to advertise for consultants, to determine which consultants are the best fit for this engagement, and then to bring that group to the Board of Supervisors for their selection,” said consultant Frederick Woodrell.

Both Trainer and Woodrell say the assessment process could taken between 60 and 90 days.

Woodrell estimated the assessment could cost anywhere between $35,000 and $50,000.
