Video: Federal Inmates Returned to Monroe County Jail

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) –Federal inmates have returned to Monroe County.

Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell tells WCBI News the jail is currently housing 8 federal prisoners.

Monroe County was required to make upgrades and repairs to the jail .

Two months ago the federal inmates were transferred to other facilities after one inmate escaped by jamming a door.

At the time a technological glitch showed the door to be closed when it really was not.

All of the required security changes have been made.
