Video: Okolona Bank Robbery, Suspects Covered In Dye

OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI) — A bank in Okolona was robbed Tuesday, and the suspects are on the loose.

Law enforcement responded to the Renasant Bank around 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, after calls of a robbery.

Chickasaw County Sheriff James Meyers says the robbers left on foot with the stolen cash.

Okolona Police Chief Willie Moore says over $14,000 was recovered not long after.

They are looking for two black male suspects who were dressed in solid black with hoodies over their heads, and blue bandannas across their faces.

Witnesses say the men were armed with a weapon, but never showed it.

A bank employee says she saw a gray Nissan leave nearby the bank heading south on Alternate 45.

“We have discovered the bank bag here, close to the bank. The dye pack did explode, so we’re asking the public if they see anybody with red dye on their clothes, or to their face, or anywhere on their body, to please give us a call,” says Sheriff Meyers.

Meyers says the dye won’t come off easy.

The Okolona Police Department and FBI are investigating the federal crime.

They’re looking at surveillance footage, and are also searching for the gray vehicle.

There have been a few bank robberies in the county, and the last one was almost 10 years ago.

If you have any information please call your local sheriff’s and police departments.
