Video: Police Use Seized Money to Buy Body Vests
EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) — Who says crime doesn’t pay?
Eupora police are using money seized from a traffic stop to update their equipment.
The department is using $6,000 of it to buy 10 new body vests for its officers.
Before the purchase, they weren’t required to wear vests. Now officers are encouraged to.
“After we took a look at our equipment, it was determined that some of our vests were out of date, so I met with the officers, and made the decision that we would take this money off this seizure, and purchase new vests for our officers,” said Chief Greg Hunter.
Police have been using the vests for about three weeks.
