Duo Nabbed For Three Pharmacy Heists
West Point, MS, Thursday, April 30, 2015: Just after 1:30am Thursday morning officers of the West Point Police Department were dispatched to Plaza Drugs on East Main Street in reference to an alarm activation. Officers responded and while investigating the call another alarm activation was reported by E911 at Rose Drug Store on Commerce Street. Upon arrival officer discovered a door ajar and numerous prescription drugs scattered on the floor inside the business.
While investigating the break-in at Rose Drugs E911 reported a third alarm activation; this time at Point City Drugs on Highway 45 alt. north. Responding officers discovered that this business had been burglarized as well. While on scene an officer, who remained on patrol, began a conscientious search of the area and encountered a maroon Dodge pickup traveling east on Main Street. A stop of the vehicle revealed an unusually large amount of prescription drugs in plain view.
Arrested in connection with these crimes was 35 year old Patrick Wayne Osburn of 9069 Hwy. 50 West, West Point and 34 year old Elizabeth Jean Poss of 2898 Hwy. 47 Cedar Bluff. Both have been charges with multiple counts of burglary and possession of controlled substances. They are currently being held in the Clay County Detention Center. Bond has been set at $30,000 for each of them.
According to Chief Tim Brinkley,
“These crimes are still under investigation and we’re consulting with other agencies to see if these individuals may be connected to similar burglaries that have occurred throughout North Mississippi over the past several months”.
