Video: Lowndes County Teacher Honored

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Lowndes County educator is named the 2016 U.S. Air Force Golden Triangle Teacher of the Year.

Susie Oglesby was presented with the award Wednesday morning during a special ceremony at New Hope High School.

Oglesby is a STEM teacher there.

The award was a special surprise for her.

“It feels amazing,” she said. “It’s one of the things that teachers work so hard for, and that is all teachers work so hard, and so to be recognized, it is an honor.”

“She makes it exciting for her students to come to class,” said MSGT E.J. Griffis, Jr. “They are invigorated, and the letters of recommendations and testimonials are very clear. She excites her students, and they enjoy coming to her class to learn.”

Five educators from throughout the Golden Triangle were nominated for the award.
