Video: Demolition to Begin on New Police Department Building

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Construction will soon start on the Starkville police department’s new facility.

Demolition begins Tuesday inside of the old city hall building.

Work on the $4.5 million dollar project is being done by Weathers Construction, a Columbus contractor.

Chief Frank Nichols tells WCBI he and his officers are excited to get started.

“If I had to use one word to describe the way I feel, it’s honored,” Nichols said. “I’m finally able to be in a building that we can be proud of. The police officers here have gone through this, a lot of them, and they are finally going to be in a building they can be proud of.”

The renovated police department building should be ready by May.
