Local Organization Helps Lafayette Flood Victims

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- It’s been about a month since Louisiana was hit with continuous rainfall that caused severe flooding. Now that the water is gone, the real work begins.

The Salvation Army here in Columbus has already made a trip to Lafayette, Louisiana.

They brought a truck full of supplies to assist flood victims and stayed there for 18 days helping in any way they could.

Today, they packed up another bus full of supplies that were collected by Wharehousers here in Columbus.

Major Alan Phillips with the Salvation Army wants the public to know that the people of Louisiana are still in need of assistance.

“We have to remember because ..but for the grace of God go I…and this need will continue…on for month…ad they now move into recovery phase.  And people are still not in there homes and are struggling all their belongings on the side of the road…its sad to see…but we are doing our part. ” said Phillips.

The bus of supplies will leave tomorrow morning at 10.
