Union County Wreck Claims One Life

NEW ALBANY (WCBI) – A Myrtle man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a semi early Tuesday morning.

State Troopers say the accident happened near the Wal-Mart Distribution Center on Highway 30.  It appears a Laurel truck driver turned into the path of the motorcycle driven by 55 year old Gary Messer of Myrtle.   Messer was not able to avoid the truck and hit it in the side and died on the scene. The investigation continues and troopers are trying to determine if fog may have played a role in the accident.
