Video: Winston County Woman Facing Federal Charges

LOUISVILLE WCBI) – Another case of disaster fraud is surfacing in Winston County.

66 year old Mary Lee Johnson faces a federal indictment of FEMA fraud.  According to the court, Johnson filed a disaster claim saying she lived in an apartment building on Beal Avenue which was heavily damaged by the tornado.  Prosecutors say they have evidence the apartment was not Johnson’s primary residence when the April 2014 tornado hit.   If convicted she can be fined a quarter million dollars and could be jailed for 30 years.  Johnson is currently free on bond pending a court hearing next week.
