Video: Choctaw County Veterans Day Celebration

CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss.(WCBI)—The Air Force and The U.S. Army among other military servicemen were accounted for Friday morning as the Choctaw County High School hosted it’s veteran’s day ceremony to say thanks.

After the playing of the national anthem the veterans were recognized by their branch.

The students got a chance to hear Guest speaker, Iraq Veteran and retired Major in the U.S. Army Darren Ray Teters.

Teters says it’s always a privilege to speak with the younger generation and an honor to be recognized for the service he’s provided our country.

“It just feels wonderful. It’s awesome that any day that we can go out and honor our veterans is a great day and to be able to do it here in our local community is wonderful. As I told him before I’m from the low butcher community which isn’t too far away. So I’m proud to come here and represent them as well as represent the veteran from the area,” said Teters.   Major Teters served 2 tours in Iraq.
